Setting the Cost Estimate View

In FilmToolz, you can customize the cost estimate view and there is a number of handy features.

Cost Estimate Nesting

The cost estimate structure includes multiple parent items with sub-items, where more sub-items can be added. To quickly open the levels of the cost estimate, use a special filter above it. Click on the level number and the estimate will open or collapse.

Columns
You can customize the cost estimate column view. To do so, click on the relevant button in the right corner and select the columns you want to view.

This is especially convenient when you lock a cost estimate. In this case yellow Limit columns are displayed, and you can customize their view. Learn more about cost estimate locking in this module.

Commission Fee View

There are four Commission Fee view modes in the cost estimate. To change the CF mode, select the desired one in the drop-down list above the cost estimate.

Columns Mode
In this mode, CFs are displayed as a percentage and an amount in separate columns for each item. Thus, you see amounts without the Commission Fee in the Plan/Forecast, Accrued and Paid sections, the Commission Fee and then the Amount with Commission Fee column.

Sub-Total Mode
In this mode, the Commission Fee is displayed as a final row in each group of high-level items (1, 2, 3, etc.).

Total Mode
In this mode, the total Commission Fee of the project is displayed as a single amount in a separate row of the cost estimate (Commission Fee and Taxes) after all items.

Inside Items mode
In this mode, the CF is included in each item, i.e. the amounts in the Plan, Accrued and Paid value for each item will include the CF.

Cash Flow
You can enable various cash flow views, e.g. by month, week and period. Please note that when you enable the cash flow view in the cost estimate, you will not be able to change the CF view. Learn more about cash flow in this module.

Off-Balance Items
If necessary, you can add items to the Subtotal section, and they will not be taken into account in the Cost Estimate Total, but will be displayed. For example, it is required to add Contingencies to the total. Learn more about off-balance items in this module.

Negative Amount Highlighting
If necessary, you can enable red highlighting of negative amounts.
